Startle was a start-up based out of California. Its aim was to create an online education environment to teach kids the art of acting.
The client came to me with a strategy (rewards-based, a freemium model, etc), but they needed help fleshing it out fully and working through how it would work, soup-to-nuts. Because there were so many moving parts, this project relied heavily on a fully developed out wireframe prototype before even attempting to move into design. We had to pay close attention to usability issues, since the main audience for this site would be children.
Design-wise, the look and feel of the site had to be child-friendly – it needed to appeal to an under-12 sensibility without crossing the line and being too childish.
